20220530. The googie ice cream bar (@tomsdairyfreeze, The Queensway, 1969). Googie architecture (AKA expressionist, mid-century modern, space age, populuxe, doo wop) originated in 1930s Los Angeles and features curvilinear geometric shapes and upswept roofs.

20220308. The googie gas bar (Canadian Tire, Rexdale, 1968). Googie architecture can also be called expressionist, mid-century modern, space age, Populuxe and Doo Wop and originates at the defunct Googies Coffee Shop in Hollywood. The style features curvilinear geometric shapes and upswept roofs.

Note the very unusual angled walls with the apex at the middle of the facade, consisting of english garden bond split-brickwork with heading courses inserted every 6th course and alternating courses of recessed and protruding brick.
