photos 20240112. Notice 2. 123 Edward St is a beautiful mid-century modern office building (1964) but there is a proposal for two 72 storey buildings on the site by Crown Realty Partners and Turner Fleischer Architects. Notice the ‘Notice’ sign which will appear in every photo. Image January 13, 2024 Vik
photos 20240101. NOTICE: a change has been proposed for this site. It’s a new year and a new year of redevelopment. Here at 250 University, another 39 storeys of condo will be plopped on top of this 1958 base across from the future Osgoode station on the Ontario Line. Image January 2, 2024 Vik

photos 20231207. Demolition can occassionally lead to appreciation but when looking at the brutalist base of the Toronto Star building, I am not sure. Image December 16, 2023 Vik

photos 20230515. Notice. A change is proposed for this site – featuring a spectacular mid-century modern office building that’s not on the heritage register at 505 University (Shell Oil Building, Marani and Morris, 1958). The building will be demolished, rebuilt with 7 fewer floors and 50 more storeys on top. Image May 15, 2023 Vik

photos 20230327. Demolition often reveals facades long hidden from view – like here at what is left of the Ontario Design Centre and future home of 800 more condo units. Image March 28, 2023 Vik

photos 20230217. This McDonald’s at Queen and Church can be rather sketchy at times but I would rather it stay than the 60 (sixty!) storey skyscraper coming. All facades but that of the McDonald’s building will be retained. Apart from that condo to the left all buildings are low-rise on this block. Image February 18, 2023 Vik
photos 20230201. The missing middle. The buildings demolished (Queen and Mutual), from 1874-1893, were constructed of wood and assessed as not heritage-worthy and will be replaced by another condo tower. An area that was mostly low-rise has been revitalized into a high-rise hood. Image February 2, 2023 Vik
photos 20230131. McVeigh’s, the last building on the block. 124 Church St was the Windsor Hotel when built in 1882. Now there are plans to pop 2 floors on top and turn it back into a hotel AND put a 45-storey condo tower behind it. Images of the hotel in 1972 and 1913 included. Image February 1, 2023 Vik
