20240112. Notice 2. 123 Edward St is a beautiful mid-century modern office building (1964) but there is a proposal for two 72 storey buildings on the site by Crown Realty Partners and Turner Fleischer Architects. Notice the ‘Notice’ sign which will appear in every photo.

20230217. This McDonald’s at Queen and Church can be rather sketchy at times but I would rather it stay than the 60 (sixty!) storey skyscraper coming. All facades but that of the McDonald’s building will be retained. Apart from that condo to the left all buildings are low-rise on this block.

20230201. The missing middle. The buildings demolished (Queen and Mutual), from 1874-1893, were constructed of wood and assessed as not heritage-worthy and will be replaced by another condo tower. An area that was mostly low-rise has been revitalized into a high-rise hood.

20230131. McVeigh’s, the last building on the block. 124 Church St was the Windsor Hotel when built in 1882. Now there are plans to pop 2 floors on top and turn it back into a hotel AND put a 45-storey condo tower behind it. Images of the hotel in 1972 and 1913 included.
