20221007. The Royal Trust Building (Jim Strutt for the Architects’ Collaborative, 1960) features buff textured precast concrete and window insets with triangles on top and bottom. Info from Capitalmodern.ca
20221006. The Public Service Alliance Building, with its stretched elliptic cylinderical shape and iron-spot brick, defies categorization and still seems current 54 years after construction (Schoeler Heaton Harvor Menendez, 1968).
20220924. The Billings Bridge Tower (1974) is a modernist office tower with romanesque arches at grade.

20220826. The Sir Richard Scott Building uses panels of corduroy concrete giving it that fuzzy tactile look. This building also houses the main branch of the brutalist Ottawa Public Library.

20220725. This Bell Canada exchange building was once a four storey streamlined art deco building (1937). It lost its top and gained three floors in the 1960s.
20220719. The Geological Survey of Canada and Geomatics Canada buildings (Allward and Gouinlock, 1955) are handsome despite all the protruding air-conditioners.
20220711. The Brooke Claxton Building (Building #9, Tunney’s Pasture federal government campus, 1964) is a classified federal heritage building designed in the “Modern International Style with aspects of Brutalism.”
20220707. The R.H. Coats building (Ogilvie and Hogg, 1976, Tunney’s Pasture, Ottawa) has a heavy duty concrete exterior.
20220627. The shiny Parkdale Medical Tower and its decaying parking garage. Sadly, there is a proposal to tear it down.
