20230207. What was left of the Campbells Soup Factory in 2021. Now or soon you can have an industrial suite at the Birmingham Industrial park – aptly named for the address of this factory at 60 Birmingham.
20230201. The missing middle. The buildings demolished (Queen and Mutual), from 1874-1893, were constructed of wood and assessed as not heritage-worthy and will be replaced by another condo tower. An area that was mostly low-rise has been revitalized into a high-rise hood.
20230102. The Trull Funeral Home has died of redevelopment but will remain thanks to architectural taxidermy.
20220921. The mid-rise Maclean Hunter building facade seems secured for the construction of the 55 storey United Building at University and Dundas.
20210528. 4D or not 4D. That is the question. The unique concrete shade structures appear around the top and south sides of all windows for ‘heavy’ shade. Also interesting is how the entrances respond to the slope of the ground with more steps, a longer handrail and a thicker concrete pad.
20210527. Campbell’s has left New Toronto due to their overproduction of soup. A distribution centre is moving in.
20210223. The construction office at 19 Duncan is mounted directly to the facade support structure.
20210119. 93 years later, Loblaws is open once again at Bathurst and Lakeshore but as a grocery store not the former Loblaw head office and warehouse.
